Lonestar Restaurant, Barbados.
We’ve eaten here many times and it is firmly placed in my top five restaurants worldwide. The food is great and the setting is just fantastic – literally on the beach. We took our three children for lunch and they happily messed about in the sand while we wondered how the wine bottle was mysteriously emptying itself. Try the curry if you go in the evening. It’s top notch.

Palazzo Sasso, Ravello, Italy.
This is a stunning 12th-century Italian villa perched on the top of Ravello Village. We had three days here, filled with doing very little. The view over the Amalfi is amazing, our room was superb, the pool was lovely and the restaurant serves excellent food. We wandered around the streets of Ravello and hired a scooter, which was perilous but fun. We also discovered a limoncello factory. Don’t mix limoncello with riding a scooter – they don’t go well together.
