Check out these great tips provided by Hg2

Although Buenos Aires is packed with historical landmarks, you need to do more than a spot of sight-seeing to get a sense of the cultural heritage and life of the city: go for walks, and listen to and feel the bustling vibrancy the city emanates.

Iguazu Falls, Las Taguas, Carlos Pellegrini 113

The impressive Iguazu Falls, at 269 feet, are higher than the Niagara Falls and twice as wide, with 275 cascades spread out in a horseshoe over almost two miles of the Iguazu river. These falls were created by a volcanic eruption that left a crack in the earth. During the rainy season (from November to March), 450,000 cubic feet of water fall per second. If you don’t have time to stay overnight at the nearby Sheraton Hotel, then definitely opt for the day trip – a private flight leaves from Buenos Aires.

Glaciers, Las Taguas, Carlos Pellegrini 1135, Buenos Aires

After you’ve seen the Iguazu Falls, you’ll think Argentina is just showing off with its glaciers. The jewel in the crown is the Perito Moreno Glaciar. Measuring 250 square km and 30km long, it is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field but only one of three Patagonian glaciers that aren’t retreating. Impressive chunks of ice crash down into the water from a height of 60 metres, below which are a further 170 metres of ice. The glacier advances (and retreats) at a rate of two metres a day. Visitors can walk on the ice further up the glacier, and there are boat trips around other glaciers in the area. Stay at the Esplendor Hotel when in El Calafate, or at Los Notros, which is the only hotel within the national park.

La Casa Rosada and Plaza de Mayo, Congreso

Spanish for the ‘Pink House’, La Casa Rosada sits on the eastern side of the Plaza de Mayo. Completed in 1885, the palace is officially the seat of government, although the President lives in a more secure compound in the northern Olivos. Built on the foundations of a post office, a customs house and a fortress, La Casa Rosada is the most famous build has played host to the most joyful as well as the most distressing scenes in Argentina’s history: from the crowds of adoring Eva Peron supporters and Diego Maradona showing off the Jules Rimet trophy after Argentina’s 1986 World Cup victory, to President Fernando de La Rua’s escape by helicopter from the palace’s roof as the 2001/2 economic crash climaxed and a riot ensued.

Cementerio Recoleta

As ghost towns go, this is the world’s number one. Presidents and a host of other important figures are buried here. Buried, however, is not the right word. This is a maze of private chapels in which the bodies are placed. Tourists now stroll up and down this luxurious cemetery, lined with marble mausoleums decorated with statues. Argentines love to be linear and the cemetery is laid out in grids, just like Buenos Aires. Eva Peron, former presidents Carlos Pellegrini and Bartolomé Mitre, and Luis Firpo, a heavyweight boxer.

Jardín Japonés, Palermo

The Japanese gardens have represented their community at the highest level in this Palermo neighbourhood. Designed by Yatuso Inomata in 1979 and donated to the Japanese community, the ornamental garden is best enjoyed from the vantage of the red bridge that crosses the lake. Look out for the hungry carp who stick their heads out of the water, waiting to be fed.
